Weight loss after pregnancy

I want to share my story. To introduce myself. To explain why it’s so important and fulfilling for me to help other people create the life they want.

Most days I find myself trying to balance being a wife, mother, teacher, fitness coach, friend, etc. It’s not an easy task. I found myself getting lost in the every day grind of motherhood and partnership….doing my best to stay centered but losing myself in the process.

As a college athlete, I thought I would always be thin, fit and be able to make time for me…..but this wasn’t the case after I got pregnant. I wasn’t going to gain lots of pregnancy weight…..yea right! The weight came on and I wasn’t worried because, this happens right? You’re supposed to gain lots and lots of weight being pregnant. I did what I always did before, ate what I wanted, when I wanted. I figured I would lose the weight later. Boy did I have a reality check coming my way……

I had a VERY hard birth with my first son I gained over 50 pounds and retained so much fluid. I couldn’t wear my rings, my feet were so swollen, my hands, my face….you get the picture. After laboring forever and pushing almost 4 hours, they rushed me for an emergency C-section. After this, I couldn’t do anything for months and months. All I did was eat and eat. I started thinking to myself, “face it, this is just what happens when you become a mother, you will NEVER have your old body back.” This is partly true in some aspects, but I am here to tell you, you can get some things back! At that moment, I knew I had to make a change. I wasn’t going to settle for, “this just happens after kids” and “it’s part of motherhood.”

I put my head down and went to work. Without the gym, or a personal trainer…..just me and my DVD’s and free weights in my living room, the work began. I couldn’t afford a gym membership, let alone a personal trainer, and it was just to hard to take my baby there and get the bag all packed and worry if he cried, you know how it is. I told myself I was going to do a least 30 min 5 times a week and slowly, but surely, the weight started to come off and I got stronger. I was getting myself back. I proceeded to have 2 more babies back to back after this one, 3 boys to C-section in 4 years. The difference from the first pregnancy was I took much better care of myself the 2nd and 3rd time. I did light workouts, ate much healthier, and the births were sooooo much easier and I recovered so quickly!

So, what did I do? Every day I did my workout first thing in the morning because if I didn’t do it, then things would happen and I would find excuses not to do it (especially because I was so tired from the kids and no sleep.) The next piece of the puzzle was to make out a grocery list and meal plan for the week and prep the food on Sundays so I could just grab healthy things instead of foods full of sugar and carbs. The results kept coming! My youngest is now 20 months old and I am in better shape now then I was when I was in college! Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would ever have that body back, let alone be in BETTER shape!! I am here to tell you IT CAN BE DONE!

My mission is now clear, I am going to pay it forward to help other mom’s find themselves again, both physically and mentally. I will show you it can be done right in the comfort of your own home with minimal cost. I am going to be here for each and every person that needs me through their journey to help motivate, educate, support and whatever else is needed to meet the goals that are set

The sky is the limit for you! I’ll make sure to get you there and BEYOND…..remember
